  Two weeks. This comes from an abbreviation of ‘fourteen nights’

  This means amazed

  When you spend far too much money

  Both these words mean food

  Something or someone fabulous

  I don’t like Harvey very much, he thinks he’s the bee’s knees!

  When someone is really upset or disappointed

  某人心烦意乱或失望

  I’m so gutted I failed my driving test, again!

  When something is cheap, financially low

  某物超级便宜

  I hate my job. I have to work such long hours, and I get paid peanuts.

  36. HAGGLE

  To argue over, and try to negotiate the price of something you want to buy

  争论,试图协商商品的价格。

  I managed to haggle the price of this shirt down by 25%!

  37. JOLLY

  37.很,非常

  You might hear people use this in all sorts of ways, but basically it means ‘very’. So “jolly good” would mean ‘very good’

  跟Very一个意思,Jolly good其实就是“Very good”的意思

  Don’t worry,I will pay you back before the end of this month.

  -I should jolly well think so!

  别担心,月底前会还你的。

  -我真该这么想!

  38. THROW A SPANNER IN THE WORKS

  This is an expression that means to wreck something

  破坏某物

  I managed to keep the surprise a secret, right up until the day before my sister’s birthday, and then hethrew a spanner in the works by telling her!

  我原本打算在姐姐生日那天送出这份惊喜,没想到他却提前告诉了姐姐!

  39. KIP

  39.小憩

  A short sleep, a nap, a power nap, or a snooze.

  打盹,小睡。

  Why don’t you try and have a kip before everyone gets here? You won’t have time to rest later.

  你怎么不在大家来之前小睡一会呢?一会没时间休息了。

  40. WIND UP

  40.取笑/烦恼

  This has a couple of meanings. If something you do is a ‘wind up’ it means you are making fun of someone. However, if you are ‘wind up’ it means you are annoyed

  有多种含义。如果你做的事“wind-up”,也就是说你在取笑某人。如果你“wind-up”,说明你很烦。

  I was just winding her up for fun, but she took offence to it and got really angry!

  我只是为了好玩才逗她,没想到她生气了,真的生气了!

  41. MATE

  41.同伴

  This means friend, chum, pal, or buddy.

  朋友、密友、笔友、伙伴

  I’m going to the cinema with my mates tonight.

  今晚我和同伴一起去看电影。

  42. NOT MY CUP OF TEA

  42.非我杯茶

  This is a common saying which means that something is not to your liking.

  不喜欢某事或某物

  I don’t really like this sort of music. It’s just not my cup of tea.

  我不喜欢这类的音乐,这不是我的菜。
