　　1. 考查并列连词and, but, or, so的用法

　　and, but, or, so, yet属最基本的并列连词，高考对它们的考查主要涉及其基本义的理解，即考生只要能看懂句意，同时将所给选项分别代入句中，意思最通顺者，即为最佳答案。

　　例题 You have to move out of the way _______ the truck cannot get past you.

　　A. so B. or C. and D. but

　　解析：答案为B。or 在此表示“否则”“要不然”。又如：Don’t mention my name or you’ll get me into trouble. 别提我的名字，免得给我惹麻烦。

　　2. 考查“祈使句+and / or+陈述句”句式

　　在“祈使句+and / or+陈述句”句式中，and表示自然的结果，or表示反面的结果(意思是“否则”)。如：

　　例题 Bring the flowers into a warm room _______ they’ll soon open.

　　A. or B. and C. but D. for

　　解析：答案为B。and表示自然的结果，句意为：把花放进一个温暖的房间，它们会很快地绽放。比较：Bring the flowers into a warm room, or they’ll soon die. 把花放进一个温暖的房间，否则它们很快就会死掉。

　　3. 考查while用作并列连词的用法

　　while通常用作从属连词，表示时间，其意为“当……的时候”;但 while 有时也用作并列连词，表示对比，其意为“而”。如：

　　例题 At school, some students are active _______ some are shy, yet they can be good friends with one another.

　　A. while B. although C. so D. as

　　解析：A。由于空格前后的句子意思有所转折，并形成对比，故应填 while。while 在此为并列连词，表示“而”。又如：Some people prefer a vegetarian diet, while others prefer a meat-based diet. 有些人偏爱素食，而有些人则偏爱肉食。

　　4. 考查when用作并列连词的用法

　　when通常用作从属连词，表示时间，其意为“当……的时候”;但 when 有时也用作并列连词，表示对比，其意为“这时”“就在此时”。

　　例题 One Friday, we were packing to leave for a weekend away _______ my daughter heard cries for help.

　　A. after B. while C. since D. when

　　解析：D。when 在此表示“这时”，句意为：周五，我们正打点行李动身去过周末，这时我的女儿听到了求救声。又如：He was just about to drive off when the secretary came running out. 他正打算驾车离开，这时秘书跑了出来。
